Dutch Apple Pie
Directions
- Make the apple filling by tossing all of the ingredients together. Place in a 10-inch cast iron skillet.
- Top the apple filling with the Heritage Ovens Graham Cracker Crumb mixture. Cover with foil. Bake for 50 minutes at 350°F. Remove the foil during the last 10 minutes of baking to allow it to brown a little more.
- The pie is done when the apple filling is bubbling.
- Serve hot. Ice cream or whipped cream is optional.
Ingredients
- 3 lbs. Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, sliced thin
- 1/2 cup sugar, brown
- 1 tbsp. Apple pie spice, (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves)
- 1 tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 tbsp. unsalted butter
- 1 lemon(s), juice of
- 1/4 cup water
- pinch of salt
Graham Cracker Crumb Topping
Directions
- Add all ingredients to a food processor.
- Pulse until the butter mixes with the crumbs and the mixture becomes coarse and almond-sized.
